Since establishing operations in India in 2007, BMW India Pvt. Ltd. has grown into one of the country’s top luxury automobile manufacturers. The German automaker, which also owns Mini, operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Chennai, along with a parts warehouse in Mumbai and a training center in Gurgaon NCR. BMW and Mini dealerships are spread across major cities, ensuring accessibility for customers.
BMW offers a diverse portfolio of luxury vehicles in India, including sedans, SUVs, coupe SUVs, sports cars, and even a roadster. Some of the popular models include the 2 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Limousine, the locally assembled 3 Series M340i xDrive, 5 Series, 6 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series, and 8 Series Gran Coupe. The SUV lineup features models like the X1, X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7, along with performance-oriented M models such as the M2 Competition, M5 Competition, M8 Coupe, X3 M, and X5 M Competition.
Embracing the shift toward electric mobility, BMW has introduced the iX xDrive SUV to compete with rivals like the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi e-tron, and Jaguar I-Pace. The iX xDrive is powered by dual electric motors producing a combined 326 PS and 630 Nm of torque, drawing energy from a 76.6 kWh battery pack that delivers a WLTP-certified range of 425 km. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds and has a top speed of 200 kmph.
Further expanding its EV lineup, BMW India has announced plans to introduce three new electric vehicles within six months. Following the iX, the company is set to launch an all-electric Mini luxury hatchback within the next three months, with the fully electric BMW i4 sedan scheduled to debut in the first half of 2022.
