A renowned British luxury automobile brand, Land Rover specializes in premium four-wheel-drive SUVs designed for both luxury and off-road capability. The company, now a subsidiary of Tata Motors since 2008, has been manufacturing vehicles in India at its Chikhali plant near Pune since 2011. The Indian lineup includes models like the Range Rover series, Defender, and Discovery range, catering to various premium SUV enthusiasts. The available options comprise the Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover, Discovery Sport, Discovery, and Defender.
Land Rover’s reputation extends beyond performance and luxury—it has also become a favorite among Bollywood celebrities. Iconic stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor have often been spotted in their Range Rovers, further cementing the brand’s status in India’s elite circles. Globally, the best-selling Land Rover models include the Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport, and Discovery Sport.
The flagship Range Rover was updated globally for the 2022 model year and was expected to launch in India in the same year. This new-gen luxury SUV was set to be available in five trims: SE, HSE, Autobiography, First Edition, and SV. Additionally, the Range Rover Sport is anticipated to receive an update, drawing design inspiration from its flagship counterpart.
Looking ahead, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has committed to an electrified future, with all upcoming Land Rover models being built on one of two advanced platforms: EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) for EV-focused models and MLA (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) for a mix of internal combustion and hybrid vehicles. The next-generation Evoque and Discovery Sport will be the first models to adopt the EMA platform, setting the stage for Land Rover’s transition into the future of mobility.
